Open Mind Festival

In the organizer's words:

Admission from 12:30 pm | pay the solidarity fee that suits you

The Open Mind Festival stands for interdisciplinary music in the sense of tolerance on several levels. At a time when parallel realities and social polarization are on the rise, the Open Mind Festival sets an example for broadening horizons and feelings of happiness. From multi-genre electronica beats to spherical jazz and world music sounds to danceable grooves from Latin America, the lineup is curated to ensure there is something for everyone. Profound lyrics and partying are not mutually exclusive here, but mutually enriching.

There is childcare for all festival-loving parents. Caterer Tamaleale offers Mexican cuisine for the physical well-being.

About the bands

LUAH
Sometimes mellow, sometimes raw, sometimes floating, sometimes grounded, the vocal trio LUAH weaves elements of jazz/singer-songwriter/pop and Brazilian music into a symbiosis.Authentic and dreamy - between mainstream and unpredictable: the Cologne-based band has created an individual sound that, paired with Brazilian elements and improvisation, serves its very own niche. The second album MO VI MENTO was released on the Ladies & Ladys label in March 2022, just in time for the band's 5th anniversary, and won the German Jazz Award in the Album Vocal of the Year category in April 2023.

This is C.A.R.
C.A.R. was founded in Cologne in 2011 by Johannes Klingebiel and Kenn Hartwig. After an early creative phase, the band released their debut album Beyond The Zero in 2014. This was followed by the Interlude EP (2017), Look Behind You (2018), Befunde ab 1999 (2020), the EP Elektronik / Erlösung (2021), Any Percent (2021) and Gästeliste (2023). While the band initially played experimental jazz, the press now classifies C.A.R. as krautrock, cosmic, electronica and experimental pop.

Klaviba (feat. Sebastiak Nickoll)
The harmony of piano, violin, double bass & percussion merged in the close encounter of four musicians from Cuba, Colombia and Germany.
Almost cautiously and with playful ease, they take their audience right into the pulsating musical heart of Cuba and Central America.
Klaviba This is intimate closeness and tranquillity as well as excitement and explosive rhythm.
Music full of passion and joie de vivre, presented with humor and a touch of melancholy and nostalgia.

Vocals & violin: Claudia Ramos Barreto | Piano: Thomas Böttcher | Double bass: Juan Camilo Villa | Percussion: Sebastian Nickoll
