Orcutt Shelley Miller brings together guitarist Bill Orcutt, drummer Steve Shelley and bassist Ethan Miller to form an unusually well-rehearsed trio. Their sound moves somewhere between rough rock, improvised outbursts and edgy riffs, without wanting to commit themselves. The band combines edgy riffs, driving rhythms and hypnotic structures to create a dense, intense overall picture. Despite their diverse musical backgrounds, they come across as a cohesive unit that embodies an unmistakable West Coast rock aesthetic. Their debut shows them as a fully formed, experimental power trio with a strongly recognizable sound.
