»Ort & Un-Zeit« Of Curious Nature, Antonio de Rosa & Mattia Russo (Kor'sia)/ Helge Letonja

PICK OF THE DAY Theater tanz
In the organizer's words:

an event by steptext dance project

Information about the piece

The Spanish choreography collective Kor'sia deals with dance as an artistic way of breaking down and commenting on the behavior of human society. In their choreography ORT with the dancers of Of Curious Nature, the two choreographers Antonio de Rosa & Mattia Russo take the non-place of a bus stop in no man's land as the starting point for their creative process. A space of mere transit in which people remain anonymous, a place of encounter that in itself invites little in the way of encounters, hovering between point of departure and point of arrival. Kor'sia and the dancers from OCN create different excerpts of narratives in this non-place. In quick cuts, they change the space and give the audience theatrical images like pieces of a puzzle to fill with their own interpretations.

UN-ZEIT uses dynamic choreography to describe the current drama of a global turning point and searches for reliability and stability in intimate moments. Helge Letonja takes Symphony No. 4 (Tansman Episodes) by Henryk Mikolaj Górecki as his musical point of reference. Inspired by the power of the music, he formulates his contemporary dance language as a contrast with the expressive dancers of the ensemble. The dancers' bodies search for paths in an all-enveloping foggy space, inviting them to penetrate it both physically and symbolically. A symbol, a claim, also a hope.
Letonja's choreography was created as a commentary on recent social developments in the world - isolation, isolationism, military aggression. His interpretation in the universal language of dance resonates intuitively with the audience.
