Osmar Osten, Oben mit! Wir reisen in die Provinz
In the organizer's words:
Conversation between Osmar Osten and Matthias Zwarg / Reading from “Hasen im Rausch”
Author and expert on the Chemnitz art sceneMatthias Zwargspeaks with Chemnitz artistOsmar Ostenabout his PURPLE-PATH sculpture*Oben Mit*. The artwork brings together the traditional cultural “characters” of the Ore Mountains on nine columns made of marble and local stone: a miner and an angel, a nutcracker and a smoking man. The figures were cast by the Ihle brothers in Dresden and form a deliberately “rough-hewn,” lifelike group: a tribute by the artist to the spirits of his homeland that is as humorous as it is affectionate. Following the discussion,Osmar Osten and Matthias Zwargwill read from their book*Hasen im Rausch*—an excursion into intoxication.
The walk is part ofthe PURPLE-PATH weekendfromSeptember 11 to 13, 2026, during which numerous guided tours, events, and activities will take place along the Art and Sculpture Trail in Chemnitz and the surrounding region. For more information:purple-path.de.
