Pablo Ziegler Trio

Astor Piazzolla revolutionized the tango. The influence of jazz on the nuovo tango was at least as great as his studies with the composer Nadia Boulanger.

His second quintet once featured a young pianist who can not only be regarded as Piazzolla's legitimate heir, but also as an innovator in his own right: Pablo Ziegler, born in Buenos Aires in 1944, has internalized the complex structures of nuevo tango to such an extent that he effortlessly transforms them into sensuality. He weaves the traditional threads of tango, jazz and contemporary music into a fine fabric, transparent and impenetrable at the same time.

He has also developed his own signature style as a composer. He has worked with important musicians and orchestras. But his refinement and elegance, his wealth of ideas and technical skill are particularly evident in the trio: everything has to be just right here to create magical, harmonious, melancholy moments. The Pablo Ziegler Trio achieves nothing less.
