DE ROLLER (Benoît Magimel), High Commissioner of the French Republic on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia, is a calculating man with impeccable manners. Between official receptions and seedy bars, he constantly gauges the mood of the local population, whose anger could erupt at any moment. This is all the more true as a rumor persists: a submarine has allegedly been sighted, and its ghostly presence signals a resumption of French nuclear testing.
