SHINODA Masahiro has succeeded in making a fascinating film of the Japanese new wave - a "film noir" that was a defining style for the yakuza thriller subgenre. Based on a story by ISHIHARA Shintarô, with a film score by Tōru Takemitsu.

With an introduction by Rüdiger Albrecht, musicologist and co-editor of the book "Tōru Takemitsu. Globalized Composing" about Toru Takemitsu (1930-1996), who is considered one of the most important Japanese composers of Western style and enjoys the highest reputation in his home country.
