From Karl May to Buffalo Bill to Sitting Bull - where does the Germans' enthusiasm for the indigenous population of North America come from? What for many is a fond childhood memory is also a narrative full of exploitation and prejudice: It was not only the Nazis who used the Native Nations as a projection surface; they were equally romanticized and instrumentalized in the GDR and by the '68ers. Their perspective still influences our view today. In order to question familiar patterns of thought and action, Pandora Pop embarks on a road trip through Germany together with Indigenous peoples from the USA and Canada and confronts the ghosts of the past, present and future.
