Four years after his disappearance, Travis, who was thought to be dead, turns up in a rocky desert near the Mexican border. His brother Walt takes him in. At Walt's house, Travis also meets his 7-year-old son Hunter, who has been living with his uncle since his parents separated. Hesitantly, Travis' memories return. Together with Hunter, Travis sets off in search of his missing wife Jane: the beginning of an adventurous odyssey through the barren southwest of America.
