Park-Platz-Sound

In the organizer's words:

When plants make music

What does a plant sound like? Can you make music with it?

Park-Platz-Sound invites you to experience plants in a completely new way. With the help of biofeedback and sonification technologies, fine electrical signals from plants are translated into sounds and made audible. This creates fascinating soundscapes that serve as a starting point for musical encounters between humans and plants.

The focus is on joint discovery, listening and improvisation. Plants become sonic partners whose signals are picked up by musicians, voices and movements and developed further in real time. The result is a lively dialog between human and non-human performers - surprising, poetic and unique every time.

The project is aimed at people of all ages - with or without previous musical knowledge. Families, neighbors, those interested in music and the curious are invited to try out for themselves how plants can become audible and what connections can be created between sound, nature and community. Park-Platz-Sound combines art, science and community to create a special listening experience - and opens up new perspectives on the living world around us.

Program

10:00 am - Welcome & introduction
Presentation of the project and demonstration of plant sonification: How do plant signals become sound?

10:30-11:30 - Plant music for children & families
Interactive workshop for listening, experimenting and marveling. Plants are made audible via sensors and explored together.

11:30-12:00 - Plant Listening Session

12:00-13:00 - Experience plant music
Listening to the sounds of plants together - via loudspeakers in the room or individually via headphones. A workshop about perception, listening and our relationship with the environment.

15:00-16:30 - Plant music & improvisation
Musicians and plants enter into a sonic dialog. The audible plant signals are picked up live and translated into musical improvisations. Instruments, voice, body and plants merge into a joint performance.

Plant sponsorships can also be taken on as part of the project. Residents and families receive a plant that they accompany and care for over several weeks. This creates a long-term connection between the participants, the plants and the joint sound project.
