Wednesday, August 12, 2026
On August 12, starting at 6 p.m., a natural spectacle awaits you—one you don’t get to experience every day. The 2026 partial solar eclipse will bathe the sky over Munich in a very special light. With an occultation of nearly 88%, this rare event offers a unique opportunity to experience it from an extraordinary perspective.
The event is organized by theVolkssternwarte München e.V., which will take you on an exciting journey through our solar system. Learn more about the fascinating structure of the Sun and the Moon, their size, distance, and the forces generated by nuclear fusion in our central star. Discover why sunspots form and why they follow a regular cycle.
Look forward to exciting insights, explained in an easy-to-understand way and perfectly tailored to the live celestial spectacle that follows.
With the solar eclipse glasses included with your ticket, you can safely observe the event with your own eyes. Special solar telescopes will also be available to reveal fascinating details of the Sun.
