Paulas Fest

To mark the 150th anniversary of artist Paula Modersohn-Becker in 2026, the Cosmos Factory will present a theatrical production titled “Paula’s Celebration,” which will be performed at the Bötjersche Scheune in Worpswede.
Paula Modersohn-Becker was a boundary-crosser in many ways: a boundary-crosser between the village of Worpswede and the metropolis of Paris, a boundary-crosser between tradition and modernity in her art, and a boundary-crosser between a premonition of death and a zest for life. “I know I won’t live very long. But is that really sad? Is a celebration more beautiful just because it lasts longer? And my life is a celebration—a short, intense celebration,” she wrote in her diary in 1900. 
With the theater project “Paula’s Celebration,” the Cosmos Factory aims to bring the fascinating world of the artist Paula Modersohn-Becker to life through the senses, demonstrating that her thoughts and artistic work remain vibrant and relevant even so many years after her death!
