This movie is special. Because it looks deep into a metropolis where almost everyone disappears, too big, too fast, too unfairly; especially on the hills, on the outskirts of the city, in the favelas of São Paulo. They live there, four friends: Djan, William, Biscoito, Ricardo. Their everyday life is difficult, between unemployment, poverty, violence and drugs, and yet they are artists. In their own way, in their own world, with their own writing and language: Pixação.

Their lettering is omnipresent; monochrome, simple, cryptic, charismatic letters and shapes. Nothing remains untouched, no one can miss them. Bridges, skyscrapers, balconies, roofs, there are no boundaries, and no way of securing them. Anyone who falls is seriously injured or dead.

Director Amir Escandari takes an honest, sensitive and emphatic look at the favela of Sabao, its inhabitants and his four young friends, whom he accompanied in their everyday lives for a long time. This closeness is palpable. They speak openly and honestly; and not just about Pixação, but also about their lives, the challenges, the little moments of happiness.
And then: an invitation to the Biennale in Berlin! Djan, William, Biscoito and Ricardo are to show what it means to be a Pixadore. Two worlds and different ideas of art and activism collide, with consequences that reach as far as their homeland.
