Modern sculptures in public spaces: sometimes fascinating, sometimes puzzling. Where do they come from? Why are they in these places? What effect do they have on us today? And can they be better understood through even more sculptures? We would like to talk about this together. Students from the Music Center at Ruhr-Universität Bochum invite you to an open art picnic. Together with historians, we will look back on the 1st Bochum Sculpture Symposium (1979/80), in which international artists created large-scale steel sculptures for public spaces such as the Bochum City Park.

Short impulses and educational activities open up space for exchange. Previous knowledge and museum experience are not necessary, everyone is welcome! Feel free to bring a blanket, pack snacks and drinks and spend a summer afternoon in the countryside with art, conversations and new perspectives. We look forward to an open, lively exchange!
