Plattenbau

In the organizer's words:

Plattenbau is an international Berlin quartet that fuses elements of post-punk, noise rock and wave into a dark, intense concoction. Plattenbau's sound combines mechanical-sounding drums, goth-inspired bass lines, mystical guitars and paranoid, wailing synths to create a mixture reminiscent of the soundtrack to a 90s horror film. The whole thing is held together by intimate, deep and gloomy vocals. The result is a sound world that is both chaotic and carefully composed - in keeping with their motto: "Tight, loose and evil".

The band was founded in 2011, inspired by the brutalist architecture of the post-Soviet landscape of East Berlin. As an integral part of the Berlin underground scene, the band evolved over the years, both personally and in their sound, until they found their current line-up: Lewis Lloyd (vocals/synth), Sally Brown (bass/vocals), Brandon Walsh (drums) and Jesper Munk (guitar/synth).

Since 2021, they have released their second and third studio albums "Shape / Shifting" (2022) and "Net Prophet" (2023) on Oliver Ackermann's (A Place To Bury Strangers / Death By Audio) New York record label Dedstrange, which they presented on extensive tours through Europe and the USA - including appearances at SXSW and the New Colossus Festival in New York, including the final concert at the Bowery Ballroom with A Place To Bury Strangers.

"Held In A Curse", released in September 2024, was the first in a series of new singles that delved even deeper into their paranoid cyber universe. This was followed by the banner-hurling song "Revenge Body" and most recently the current single "Progress" with guest vocals by Carmen from Berlin's cult darkwave trio Die Anstalt. This was released as a limited split 7" vinyl, accompanied by a mini-tour and music videos from both bands. Further single and video releases as well as collaborations from the Berlin underground and beyond are planned for the fall.
