PLATZ IM KOPF - zwischen Körper und Gedanken
In the organizer's words:
Space in the Mind—Between Body and Thought
is a photographic exploration of the conflict we often have with ourselves and the question of what might happen if we stopped having it.
FLINTA* individuals participated in the project, and their personal texts accompany the respective photographs in the exhibition.
The photographs show details of bodies: skin, lines, wrinkles, scars, and curves.
We live in bodies that are seen, evaluated, and judged. Bodies that are measured—by ourselves and by others.
Too big. Too small. Too soft. Too much. Not enough.
Our bodies are unique and individual. They are something personal and, at the same time, something that is constantly exposed to the gaze of society.
What if the energy that has until now been channeled into self-criticism were suddenly set free?
Perhaps there would be peace
Perhaps courage
Perhaps creativity
Perhaps love
Perhaps space for others
Maybe there’s room for yourself
The works aren’t about suddenly having to find your own body unconditionally beautiful.
Self-acceptance doesn’t have to mean loving every part of yourself. Perhaps, at first, it simply means stopping the fight against yourself.
What would you do with that space?
What would you do with that mental space if you stopped fighting against yourself?
