The Australian guitarist and songwriter is coming to Germany for six shows in August

With his modern way of interpreting progressive guitar music, Plini is undoubtedly one of the most creative instrumentalists of his generation. Steve Vai called him the "future of exceptional guitar playing" back in 2017, describing the Australian's talent more than aptly. Nominated for Guitarist of the Year at the 2018 National Live Music Awards, Plini has established a unique style that is unparalleled between virtuoso instrumental music, progressive metal, funk, jazz and art rock, while constantly elaborating an independent language of modern guitar music. It is therefore not surprising that he has long since become a figurehead for brands such as Strandberg and Neural DSP. Within the modern prog scene, Plini is also a true prime example of the DIY ethos of a bedroom artist who has achieved worldwide fame through home recording and self-marketing and who has carved out the dream of a life as a musician for himself over the years. But Plini is not the only gifted musician. His band, consisting of Simon Grove (bass) and Chris Allison (drums), Jake Howsam Lowe (guitar) and Dave Mackay (keyboards), is also a real treat for music lovers. After touring as support for Animals As Leaders, TesseracT and Polyphia, Plini is coming to Germany in August for six headline shows with his current EP "Mirage".

Plini Roessler-Holgate got his first acoustic guitar at the age of ten - but he didn't get serious about electric guitars until the age of 15. In 2011, the guitarist initially started a solo project under the name Halcyon and released the EP "Pastures" before deciding on his own first name as his stage name. Plini quickly attracted attention with his debut EP "Other Things" in 2013: the track "Selenium Forest" sketches a picture that literally celebrates virtuoso guitar playing with sustained melancholy and outlines the basis of his unique music. However, he not only reveals his melodic but also rhythmically adept skills early on with "Away" from his second EP "Sweet Nothings" (2013), following in the tradition of modern guitar virtuosos such as Tosin Abasi and Paul Masvidal. In 2015, he completed his EP trilogy with "The End Of Everything" and released his long-awaited debut album "Handmade Cities" in 2016, which was celebrated by the international press for its catchy melodies and joy of playing. Tracks such as "Electric Sunrise" and "Every Piece Matters" expose themselves with their positive attitude and enchant with their consistently melodic approach and catchy grooves. At the same time, Plini maintains a musical complexity that is consistently comprehensible and full of playful joy for listening pleasure. The second album "Impulse Voices" (2020) lays the foundations for this trick. The guitarist remains true to his musical vision without interruption, but reflects it with a progressive approach and thus constantly reinvents himself. In 2023, Plini released his latest EP "Mirage", on which he drifts into spheres between funk and contemporary prog metal with "Still Life", once again inspiring with musical freshness and explosiveness across the board.
