Back to the roots. Before poetry slam took place in the big theaters of this country, it was hot in stuffy pubs. At Honigfabrik Wilhelmsburg, we are reviving this feeling. Here, newcomers have the chance to make an impression alongside established slammers. Listen to the finest poetry and dirty jokes over a beer and a fag during the break. An evening as sweet as honey and as rough as the hands of factory workers.

Poetry slam is a competition in which poets compete against each other with their self-written texts. They are not allowed to use costumes or props, it's all about the performance and the spoken word. The texts are always different. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious. Sometimes rhymed, sometimes narrated. Sometimes highly lyrical, sometimes silly. In the end, the most competent jury of all - the audience - decides who wins the evening. You can't rate art, but we do it anyway.
