Embark on a breathtaking journey to the coldest places on our planet: The POLAR EXPERIENCE will take you into the fascinating world of the Arctic and Antarctic from May 19 at OBEX in Oberhausen.
Following the great success in Berlin, the doors are now opening in Oberhausen for this unique experience. An immersive multimedia exhibition with large-format projections, impressive soundscapes, science-based content and emotional storytelling awaits you on 1,100 square meters. The journey takes you from virtual boarding on the research vessel Polarstern to spectacular ice worlds and a 360° video mapping room in which the Arctic and Antarctic come to life on walls up to six meters high.
This is where entertainment meets science. Designed in collaboration with internationally renowned polar explorers and scientific institutions, the exhibition combines expedition experiences, research findings and concrete hands-on impulses and inspires people aged five to 95.

Your journey begins on board the legendary research vessel Polarstern. Here you will be prepared for your expedition to the eternal ice.
The fascination of ice
Large-format images show ice in all its facets: rough, fragile, majestic and full of life.
360° projection
The Arctic and Antarctic come to life in the exhibition's largest experience area.
Animal habitat
Polar bears, seals, sea eagles and penguins are the focus here.
Human habitat
The exhibition also tells the story of the people of the polar regions. Indigenous communities have lived in the Arctic for thousands of years and their knowledge of ice, animals, weather and nature has been passed down through generations.
