Positions and Perspectives - Talk series with Meron Mendel and Saba-Nur Cheema - Next edition: Positions and Perspectives 2 - Meron Mendel and Saba-Nur Cheema in conversation with Navid Kermani about Europe and the Middle East - on February 16 at 8 pm - Schauspielhaus, Kleines Haus

In January, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus will open a new series of talks with Meron Mendel, director of the Anne Frank Educational Center and author, and political scientist, publicist and anti-racism trainer Saba-Nur Cheema, dedicated to a multi-perspective debate. The individual issues will focus on the current political situation in Israel, Palestine and Germany. The discourse on criticism of anti-Semitism and post-colonial criticism of racism will be addressed, as will the advance of the right and questions of Jewish-Muslim dialog. Dialogue should, indeed must, remain possible. Meron Mendel and Saba-Nur Cheema make a strong case for this when they write: "It may sound banal to call for more mutual understanding. Empathy does not lend itself well to headlines or lurid social media posts. But nothing is more banal than digging yourself deeper into your prejudices - and confusing your own insensitivity with radicalism."
