In January 2024, Meron Mendel, Director of the Anne Frank Educational Center and author, and political scientist, publicist and anti-racism trainer Saba-Nur Cheema opened a series of talks at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus dedicated to multi-perspective debate. They emphasize: "The willingness to listen to each other is more important than ever. Ideally, we will succeed in showing a variety of positions that are not necessarily contradictory, but certainly not identical. We want to move forward in our thinking and not remain in our own safe spaces. It's about recognizing other perspectives and discussing them with each other without defaming them."

The ninth edition of the "Positions and Perspectives" discussion series features journalist and author Natalie Amiri as a guest. She has been reporting from the Middle East for many years and her travels have taken her to Lebanon, the West Bank, Gaza, Iran and Israel. Even in times of war and violence, she has sought contact with the people on the ground and spoken to them about their everyday lives, their fears and their hopes. Natalie Amiri's aim is not to pass judgment from the outside, but to understand: She allows voices to be heard that are rarely heard in international reporting, and she thus provides an unusual look behind the scenes of the major conflicts.

Together with the political scientist and journalist Saba-Nur Cheema and the director of the Anne Frank Educational Center, Meron Mendel, she talks about how the various conflicts in the region are intertwined - and what hopes people have not given up despite all the violence and turmoil.
