Sculptural handbag, 3D-printed

object

Design and realization of a sculptural handbag with integrated handle.
Open object, two-colored, conceived as an independent design object.

The bag is professionally produced in the studio after the appointment, 3D-printed from solid or rubber-like material (PLA or TPU) and post-processed.

Design

There are several predefined model variants to choose from, which are suitable for 3D printing and the time frame.

Own design approaches are possible, as long as they are formally reduced and can be implemented within the time available.
The selection is made jointly with a view to feasibility and quality.

Procedure

Work in a small group in the studio, with time for exchange and concentration.
Joint development of form, proportion and color distribution.

The focus is on design, not on software or technology.
The 3D printing process is explained; elaboration and production then take place in the studio.
Drinks and snacks are provided.

Result

• 1 sculptural top handle bag

• open, two-colored

• professionally 3D-printed (PLA or TPU)

• Handover at a separate pick-up appointment

Designer

Thorsten Gambalat works in the field of product, interior and object design.
Projects for private and institutional clients, nomination for the Dezeen Award 2024, among others, teaching assignments in product and interior design.
