In 14th-century Japan, a remote village is attacked by a wild boar that has gone berserk. The young Prince Ashitaka manages to kill the boar, but is injured in the process. The injury seems harmless, yet it is his death sentence: The boar was no ordinary animal, but a vengeful god who, driven by hatred for humans, had become a demon and placed a deadly curse on Ashitaka. To find an antidote, he sets out on a long journey westward and arrives in the homeland of Nago, the boar’s former protector of the forest. There, a bitter battle rages between the miners of a small town and the animal gods, led by a young girl named Princess Mononoke...
