ProhibitionsParty - Circus of Swing

In the organizer's words:

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Parkhotel Dresden will be transformed into a mysterious 1920s speakeasy: the "Prohibition Party - Circus of Swing" invites you to a glamorous night in the authentic style of the Roaring Twenties. Guests are immersed in an exciting, scandalous world full of jazz, swing and wicked elegance.
Behind closed doors, a dazzling world unfolds in which swing fills the air, pleasure becomes an adventure and ends with exuberant joie de vivre. International live acts provide the authentic sound of this era: The Chicago Stompers from Italy inspire with authentic hot jazz from the 1920s and 30s. The international cabaret ensemble LET'S MISBEHAVE! in bohemian sauvage style, with Charleston grooves, cabaret songs and tongue-in-cheek wickedness will bring the lifestyle of the Roaring Twenties to life. The line-up is complemented by the Dutch OhnO! Jazzband, whose fresh brass swing sound and youthful energy will transform any hall into a dance club.

Outstanding show acts provide glamorous entertainment: Miss Clara and her Burlesque Top Girls whisk you away to past musical worlds with singing, dancing and vintage charm. Leipzig burlesque artist Maroush Boleyn will delight audiences as the "alchemist of eroticism" with sensual, modern performances. Mama Ulita, the icon of the German burlesque scene, captivates the audience with her stylish aesthetics, humor and spectacular performances. When Dresden travesty artist Debbie Jellinsky takes to the stage, it's glamorous, a little wicked - and guaranteed to be unforgettable. With charm, wit and a pinch of sinful elegance, she leads you through a night in which the swing pulsates, the glasses clink - and everyday life has to stay outside.
On several dance floors, guests can expect a stylish sound cocktail of swing, Charleston and electroswing with DJane "La Rubinia" and DJane "Schwester Polyester", which will keep the audience going until the early hours of the morning.

The audience will also be offered an extraordinary program away from the stage: At the spectacular RETRO DANCE BATTLE, the "best of the best" from a wide variety of dance styles compete against each other. Four pairs of dancers will put themselves to the ultimate test, demonstrating their real talent for improvisation. The professionals and dance teachers come from the Weise Dance School, the 1st DRRC Rock'n'Roll Club, 24 Tangos, Elementio, the TU Dresden, the Jam Circle and others, and face a cross-genre competition between Salsa & Kizomba, Tango, Standard Dance and Lindy Hop & Boogie Woogie that has never been seen before in this form.

Jens Hewald, owner of Parkhotel Dresden: "In recent years, our hotel has proven time and again how versatile it is. We are delighted to be hosting this special event together with our partners Hendrik Meyer from the Dresden Dixieland Festival and Steffen Grosche from Waterloo Produktion and to be able to establish it in subsequent years. We're not revealing everything yet, because we want visitors to find out a lot for themselves. Some rooms have to be rediscovered. The guests' outfits are an important component and contribute to the history that will be written on this night. Nobody knows how this night will end."

Steffen Grosche, Waterloo Production: "This night is a secret. During Prohibition, no alcohol was officially served. Therefore, guests are encouraged to bring their own porcelain cups in order to consume drinks as inconspicuously as possible. It is an ironic, crazy game where all guests are invited to discover the premises for themselves using their own imagination and creativity. Personally, I can't rule out the possibility that Prohibition might be laid to rest that evening."
The event is the highlight of this year's Dresden International Dixieland Festival.
