Rousing guitar riffs and hopeful melancholic lyrics. The Detroit post-punk band Protomartyr goes deep and makes you think. This year they come back to Germany for five shows and present their sixth studio album "Formal Growth In The Desert".
Protomartyr tell about post-apocalyptic scenarios and socio-critical topics like social injustice. Since their debut album "No Passion All Technique" in 2012, singer Joey Casey, guitarist Greg Ahee, drummer Alex Leonard and bassist Scott Davidson have repeatedly processed personal experiences. The years of the pandemic have not passed them by without leaving a trace and have caused inner turmoil about the meaning and creation as musicians. They process all of this in their new album, "Formal Growth In The Desert," due for release on June 02.
With powerful words and his raw voice, sometimes loud sometimes soft, Joey Caseys draws the picture of a seemingly endless desert, linking the hope to go on, as impossible as it seems. On four dates the American comes to Germany and takes the audience on their emotional and wild journey.
