Public Health Filmfestival

This year's Public Health Film Festival (PHFF) will take place from November 21 to 27, 2023. Three exciting films will be shown, followed by interesting discussions on the topic of public health.

Admission is free and open to all - no tickets required.

The program 2023:

November 21 | 7:30 pm (admission from 7 pm) | Lecture hall Walther-Straub-Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology (Nußbaumstraße 26 / intersection Schillerstraße (access via Schillerstraße)) in Munich | Film and discussion in German:

Presentation of the Oscar-winning feature film "DER RAUSCH" by Thomas Vinterberg. The film from Denmark confronts us with alcoholism in affluent societies in a multifaceted way. The film will be followed by a discussion on the topic of "Commercial Determinants of Health" (with SZ author Berit Uhlmann, among others).

Presentation of the documentary film "TOMORROW" by actress Mélanie Laurent ("Inglourious Basterds"). The solution-oriented film highlights small and large projects from around the world that are making our planet a little healthier. The film will be followed by a discussion on the topic of "Communicating Planetary Health" (with Anna Gaul (Munich Science Communication Lab), among others).

The documentary "EINE EINSAME STADT" by Nicola Graef on the topic of loneliness in Berlin can be streamed throughout the festival (link on phff.de). The film portrays a feeling that does not stop at any generation, social group or profession. At the end of the festival, the discussion on "Loneliness and Public Mental Health" (with Dr. Michaela Coenen from the Chair of Public Health and Health Services Research, LMU Munich, among others) will take place online via Zoom (registration via https://lmu-munich.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5Ioce-oqT8oEtJpciEozV2SUMWAvLDs5XaX#/registration).

The project is organized by the Chair of Public Health and Health Services Research and funded by the Pettenkofer School of Public Health, the Munich Science Communication Lab and the Volkswagen Foundation.
