Hot summer nights in New York City. In Brooklyn, young student Adnan is house-sitting for his uncle. In Chinatown, he works part-time at a gallery exhibiting the playful, sexually charged embroidery of the older artist Sal. Adnan had a tender affair with Sal a year ago, just as he’s now having nighttime adventures with the young food delivery driver Yariel. And in between, the echo of his great love for the writer Iggie lingers. Past and present intertwine as Adnan drifts between hookups and the buzz of the city, between glittering urban canyons and an enchanted forest.
