QUEERHISTORYMONTH
QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1 to 31, 2026(www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events as part of the festival will bring the history(ies) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome - kings, queers, queens, allies, friends, families (of choice) and everyone in between and beyond!
The event
On Women's Archives Day, we provide insights into our collections on Hamburg's lesbian history
Every year on May 11, the German-speaking women's*/lesbian archives celebrate Women's Archives Day. To mark this occasion, we open our doors on the Sunday before and give you an insight into our rooms and our collections, especially those on lesbian history.
Past struggles and achievements should inspire current action. You will therefore have the opportunity to browse through old archives yourself and get to know projects of the Hamburg women's*lesbian movement.
You can also design your own buttons and take them with you.
Our book flea market is also ready for you. Maybe you'll find a book or two for your shelf at home. There are plenty of undiscovered treasures there.
You can also exchange ideas and get to know each other over a light snack.
At 1 p.m. there will be an opportunity to learn more about the history of DENKtRÄUME in a guided tour and to get to know our new special collection FrauenStadtArchiv. Come along and celebrate feminist movement history with us!
