Radreisevortrag: Tallbike Against Cancer – Von München nach Peking

After 111 days in the saddle, more than 12,000 kilometers and around 61,000 meters of altitude, Tommaso Weller (23, student & photographer) from Unterschleißheim and Jakob Wall (24, flight attendant) from Eching arrived in Beijing on 19 August 2025. Their "Tallbike Against Cancer" project took them from Munich across 12 countries, including Turkey, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia - with the aim of collecting donations for German Cancer Aid.
Along the way, the two experienced not only extreme weather conditions and the challenges of remoteness, but also impressive hospitality and many encounters that shaped their journey. Particularly unusual: Tommaso rode a self-built Tallbike, an oversized bicycle that he developed and built together with a Bavarian engineer. Despite skepticism beforehand, the Tallbike proved to be fully suitable for traveling the long distance. They were able to exceed their original goal of collecting one euro for every kilometer ridden: In the end, they raised over 15,000 euros in donations for cancer research. The project combines a sense of adventure, technical ability and social commitment - and tells the story of two young people who wanted to set an example with creativity, perseverance and idealism.
