Racism has an impact - individually, structurally and institutionally. In addition to social and material consequences, it also has an impact on mental health. Recurring experiences of discrimination, microaggressions, exclusion and structural inequalities can increase stress, exhaustion and emotional strain. At the same time, those affected develop a variety of strategies for resilience, self-care and collective strengthening. The evening is dedicated to the connections between racism and mental health and asks how these interactions can be better understood and socially recognized. The focus will be on a digital lecture by Dr. Amma Yeboah (Amma Yeboah), who will classify the topic from a professional perspective and provide impulses for a differentiated view of mental health in the context of racist structures.
This will be followed by a moderated Q&A session, which will offer both the audience on site and those digitally connected a space for exchange. The event has a hybrid concept and can be attended at the Hannover Kiosk or online.
