December 1942: A freighter arrives in Bremen, chartered by the company Kühne + Nagel. It is transporting furniture and household goods to the Hanseatic city, looted by the Nazi regime from the homes of European Jews. The transport is part of the systematic expropriation of the Jewish population by Nazi Germany. Auctioneers, bailiffs and tax officials sell the looted property in the Weser Stadium, at the auction house in Bremen's Schnoor district, in a gymnasium and in the harbor area. The people of Bremen flock to the sales, making themselves complicit in the anti-Semitic expulsions and deportations. "Robbery. Stolen Memories" deals with the question of how individuals, companies and institutions were able to profit from the injustice of the Nazi dictatorship - right up to the present day. What repressed remnants surround us, what story or stories do they tell? And how can we remember for the future?
