Following its huge success in Berlin, the doors are now opening in Oberhausen for this unique experience. Spanning1,100 square meters, an immersive multimedia exhibition awaits you, featuring large-format projections, impressive soundscapes, scientifically grounded content, and emotional storytelling. The journey takes you from virtual boarding on the research vesselPolarsternthrough spectacular ice landscapes to a360° video-mapping room, where the Arctic and Antarctic come to life on walls up to six meters high.

This is where entertainment meets science. Designed in collaboration with internationally recognized polar researchers and scientific institutions, the exhibition combines the thrill of an expedition, research findings, and hands-on activities, captivating visitors aged five to 95.

Virtual Boarding on the Polarstern
Your journey begins aboard the legendary research vessel Polarstern. Here, you’ll be prepared for your expedition into the eternal ice.

The Fascination of Ice
Large-format visual displays showcase ice in all its facets: rugged, fragile, majestic, and teeming with life.

360° Projection
In the exhibition’s largest interactive area, the Arctic and Antarctic come to life.

Animal Habitat
Polar bears, seals, sea eagles, and penguins take center stage here. 

Human Habitat
The exhibition also tells the story of the people of the polar regions. Indigenous communities have lived in the Arctic for millennia, passing down their knowledge of ice, animals, weather, and nature from generation to generation.
