OVERVIEW
How do you photograph the atmosphere of a day?
How can energy, movement and encounters be translated into images?
The "Rave the Planet" parade offers a unique photographic environment for this. For one day, Berlin is transformed into a place full of music, emotions and encounters. Instead of simply documenting the event, we will use this day as a photographic training ground to take a closer look and react more consciously to situations.
In the theory part, we will talk about image composition, light, movement, flash photography and dealing with people in public spaces. We then go to the parade together and take photos on location.
The next day, we will discuss the resulting images together and reflect on different approaches and experiences.
The workshop will be held in German with English support if required.
WHO ARE CYNTHIA ANGELA VILLIGER & ROKAS JANKUS?
Cynthia Angela Villiger (*1990, Zug, Switzerland) is a photographer and make-up artist based in Berlin. Her photographic work focuses on the observation of public space, human encounters and the traces that people leave behind in places. With a documentary eye, she examines questions of perception, presence and identity, moving between street photography and artistic photography. In addition to her own practice, she organizes exhibitions and hosts FILMRISS FLINTA+ photo walks.
Rokas Jankus (*1985, Vilnius, Lithuania) is a Berlin-based photographer specializing in street and documentary photography. He has been photographing in public spaces for over 15 years, developing long-term projects that deal with urban spaces, everyday observations and the relationships between people and their surroundings. His work has been produced in Berlin, Belgrade, Tokyo, New York and Hamburg, among other places, and has been shown in exhibitions in Germany, Serbia and Switzerland. In his workshops, he teaches technical and creative basics as well as a sensitive and respectful approach to photographing people in public spaces.
