Berlin Street Photography Workshop

In the organizer's words:

(Info: The tickets for Supporter and Pro are only for Filmriss members. We will check the status and reserve the right to cancel the ticket without reservation).

This workshop is in German, but will be assisted in English where needed

This full-day workshop offers an introduction to street photography in Berlin and will be led by street photographer Rokas Jankus.

This workshop offers an easy introduction to street photography as an artistic-documentary practice between observation, movement and intuition. The focus is on the personal view of public space: How do I move around in it? How do I find motifs? How do I get the pictures?

Participants will learn about different styles and approaches to street photography, discuss the legal framework in Germany and Europe and practise technical basics such as exposure time, aperture and movement.

The aim is to develop courage and sensitivity - both technically and in respectful interaction with people and situations in urban spaces.

Our lecturer Rokas Jankus

Rokas Jankus is a Berlin-based Lithuanian photographer who has been working in the field of street and documentary photography for over fifteen years. His work focuses on urban spaces and their often overlooked in-between zones - places that reveal quiet traces of human presence, absence and constant change.

He is drawn to moments that unfold slowly - to light, rhythm and the fragile beauty of the everyday. For him, photography is a form of lingering, a pause to perceive what remains when everything else moves on.

His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Berlin, Munich, Belgrade, Zug and Dortmund, among others. In addition to these exhibitions, he also publishes his projects in the form of books and zines, and his photographs have been published in various magazines.
