Ravyn Lenae released her debut project "Moon Shoes" in 2015, an EP produced by fellow Zero Fatigue member Monte Booker. Originally released as a free download, it was picked up by major label Atlantic for a commercial release the following year. On the EP, the then 16-year-old impressed with contemporary R&B, praised by magazines such as Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. Lenae released her EP "Crush" in 2017. This was followed by numerous festival appearances and a joint tour with SZA.

In 2022, Ravyn Lenae released the singles "M.I.A.", "Light Me Up" and "Skin Tight" feat. Steve Lacy from The Internet, who was already featured on two songs from the "Crush" EP.
