Razorlight

Indie icons Razorlight are back! Over the course of more than two decades as a band, the British group has enjoyed great success, experienced numerous ups and downs, and secured a firm place in the international music scene.

At the heart of the band is singer and guitarist Johnny Borrell, who founded Razorlight in 2002. Together with bassist Carl Dalemo, guitarist Bjön Ågren, and drummer Shïan Smith Pancorvo, the band quickly made a name for itself in the London underground scene. Their debut album, *Up All Night*, released in 2004, immediately reached number three on the UK album charts—an impressive achievement. This was followed by the intense period of promotional events, tours, and studio work that many bands experience after a successful debut. The pressure eventually became too much for Smith-Pancorvo, and Andy Burrows took over on drums. With this lineup, Razorlight created what are perhaps their finest works: while the creative collaboration between Borrell and Burrows was often turbulent, it was always marked by a brilliant chemistry. Their second album, *Razorlight*, broke all records in 2006: number one on the charts, multiple BRIT Awards nominations, and five-time platinum status. Razorlight had finally conquered the mainstream and followed up just two years later with *Slipway Fires*.

However, after Andy Burrows left the band, a prolonged period of upheaval began. The lineup changed several times, with Johnny Burrell remaining the only constant member. Together with David Ellis on guitar, Harry Deacon on bass, and David Kaplan on drums, Razorlight released their fourth studio album, “Olympus Sleeping,” in 2018. But this lineup didn’t last long either. It wasn’t until 2021 that fans could breathe a sigh of relief: After more than a decade, the lineup from the era of the second and third albums reunited. In addition to a completely sold-out greatest-hits tour, the creative partnership between Burrell and Burrows was also revived, and the long-awaited album “Planet Nowhere” was released in 2024.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the hit album “Razorlight.” That calls for a celebration: In November, the band will return to the stage with its original lineup and perform the iconic album in its entirety at three exclusive shows in Germany!
