DJ Storm not only introduced Goldie to the breakbeat, jungle and drum'n'bass universe, but was also instrumental in the success of the Metalheadz label. The enthusiastic ambassador of fast breakbeats and deep bass has an unerring instinct for the perfect mix, her skills are definitely and always at their best. That's why we asked her to regularly put together a night of her own.
This time she invited her longtime friend Digital, who we all know from his releases on Metalheadz and his label Function. He released his first record in 1994 in collaboration with Danny C under the title "Split Personality" and "Navigator's Path" on Certificate 18. Equally groundbreaking for the genre was "Phantom Force" (1999, together with Spirit). Digital masters many variations - from old school beats, dubby sounds and dark tracks to liquid funk and rave anthems, anything is possible with him.
Alley Cat is a good friend who has already played in our Icon. Alley Cat has loved and lived our favorite genre for around 25 years in a wide variety of roles and also has a soft spot for many other types of electronic music, especially hip-hop and old-school electro. In her excellent sets, instead of straight, technoid basslines, there are lots of breaks and soulful vocals, always perfectly combined. Last fall, her new EP "Big Bad Dark City" was released on Armory Recordings.
Qzen has a sincere preference for soulful, sophisticated and bass-heavy music that moves body and mind. Deeply rooted in drum'n'bass, her sets also encompass other genres and sub-genres of bass, house and breakbeat. They play whatever is good. The main thing is that it rolls. She has already impressively demonstrated how to get the crowd going at the start of the series.
The whole thing is rounded off by MC Jamie White.
Be sure to check out Box2 as well. There, the Bassism crew will be devoting itself to the complex field of hybrid bass music with an excellently curated line-up and has invited another highlight in the form of Joe Nice. Born in the UK, he grew up in the USA, played dubstep before the genre even had a name and is considered one of the most authentic and talented artists in the dubstep community worldwide.
