What a book title: "My misfortune begins with the circuit being depicted as a rectangle". A typical Stanišić! And he's probably only just picking up speed. Saša Stanišić is one of those gifted storytellers who reach people's hearts. Like a friend, like a father, like an approachable person, he expresses clear and harsh criticism of political convenience and lazy double standards. He backs up his reasons for this with stories and these enable his audience to face up to the criticism. If he can do this in novels, how can he do it in speeches, which are addressed directly to us?
The speech is probably the most underestimated type of text of all time. Few other texts are written with so much care, imagination, seriousness and wit (in this case). After all, when do you get the chance to grab people by the scruff of the neck like this? Or, as the author himself says: "The aim of a speech must be that the audience has not only swallowed the morsels in the foyer, but also the idea and has been encouraged to spread it further." And how do we need that, right? So let's let the ideas be given to us as literary canapés, so that we can then sing together on the barricades and face life in an encouraged, empowered and different way. This book makes it possible, as Andreas Platthaus and Saša Stanišić will certainly show us.
This event will be recorded by SWR KULTUR. Broadcast dates at swr.de/swrkultur.
