Eight journeys through Nepal, Bhutan, Ladakh and Tibet take Pascal Violo to the heartland of the Himalayas, full of scenic and cultural highlights. In Kathmandu, the Buddhist and Hindu sanctuaries touch him, on the walk to the base camp of Mt. Everest prayer flags, yak caravans and the peaks of the world. In the Kingdom of Bhutan, the travel photographer marvels at the Tiger's Nest Monastery and the wise state leadership that places the happiness of the people above economic interests. On an adventurous motorcycle tour through Ladakh, Pascal Violo crosses the highest pass in the world that can be driven over, takes part in colorful festivals in the dreamlike Nubra Valley and fights his way to the summit of a 6,400-meter mountain. In Tibet, he circles the sacred Mount Kailash and celebrates Buddha's birthday with devoted crowds of pilgrims. And everywhere in the Himalayas he is touched by warmth, hospitality and magical light.
