Wanderlust - 20 years of adventure in America

Dirk Rohrbach looks back on his greatest adventures. From the circumnavigation of America by bike to his expeditions on the Yukon and Missouri Rivers. The highlights from twenty years, the best stories and most spectacular pictures, told in a captivating way and accompanied by a magnificent soundtrack.

Dirk's journey from doctor to adventurer begins in 2004 with a break and the fulfillment of a dream. In six months, he circumnavigates the USA by bike and returns to Germany after almost 15,000 kilometers in the vastness.

There, however, Dirk quickly realizes that nothing is as it was before, a turning point in his life. He decides to quit his jobs as a doctor and radio presenter, put all his eggs in one basket and get out.

In Canada, Dirk builds a canoe out of birch bark and follows the Yukon River from its headwaters across Alaska to the Bering Sea. Fulfilled and inspired, he became a nomad, commuting between Europe and North America without a permanent home. In 2013, he got back on his bike and crossed the USA from the Atlantic to the Pacific, before five years later becoming the first European to paddle the Missouri River from its source to the Gulf of Mexico, 6000 kilometers of river.

It is the encounters that make Dirk's journeys unforgettable, the stories when he travels alone, decelerated, under his own steam, very close to nature and people. Driven by irrepressible curiosity, willpower and boundless wanderlust.
