The loss of biodiversity is not a niche problem - on the contrary: biodiversity is the basis of our coexistence, and its loss also endangers our culture, economy and democratic way of life. The authors of the non-fiction book "Rettet die Vielfalt" (2025 by Klett-Cotta) question our thought patterns and decision-making principles. In order to master the ecological challenges, we must orient ourselves towards a cross-species coexistence: as part of a biodiverse society that combines biological, cultural and technical diversity. What does this mean for politics, law, business and science?

We discuss with the authors Prof. Dr. Helmuth Trischler (Rachel Carson Center, Research Director of the Deutsches Museum until 2024) and Prof. Dr. Jens Kersten (Chair of Public Law and Administrative Sciences, LMU Munich).
