Climate change presents us with new challenges that have a central impact on the concept of freedom. Taking responsibility for people in other countries and also future generations often presents itself as a restriction of freedom. Should SUVs and domestic flights be banned, do we need a climate-friendly departure from the concept of freedom of movement? With her theory of lead freedom, philosopher Eva von Redecker suggests focusing on the temporal dimension of "freedom" and designing a more ecological way of existence from there. The philosopher Wolfram Eilenberger, on the other hand, describes the "fire of freedom" as courageous resistance to totalitarian tendencies and is particularly wary when activist contexts make alarmist arguments about the lack of time and thus mobilize politically. A discussion on the question of which freedom will lead us into the future. Moderation: Dominik Erhard
