Riem Arcade – Giant Flipper-Workshop mit "Riem Arcade"

Only children play? And art is not for everyone? The KunstSpielOrte are aimed at all generations, they are inclusive and bring together things that are fun - namely art and play. Between May and October 2024, five artistic projects will take place in Messestadt - and everyone is invited to take part. All events are free and barrier-free.

"Riem Arcade" refers to the arcade game culture in the amusement arcades of the 1970s and 80s. Unlike classic arcade games, which are often played by one person alone, "Riem Arcade" focuses on the idea of community: old classic games such as 'PacMan', 'Pinball' or 'Space Invaders' are reinvented together in a creative process. These are then set up as art slot machines in public spaces. Among other things, an oversized pinball machine is planned. In the form of analog 'multiplayer games' (games with several participants), they encourage artistic and playful expression. They can become independent works of art or simply be fun. The next level then moves on to the "Pong" kiosk. The kiosk will be designed and built in cooperation with BildungsWerkstatt e.V. and pupils from the secondary school on Lehrer-Wirth Straße. The first workshops for this will start in March. This joint project will be the central meeting point for joint games afternoons, jam sessions and exchanges.
