Roller Derby is both the name of a feminist roller skating sport and the namesake for the indie pop band from Hamburg, Germany, founded in 2020, whose music bridges the gap between nostalgic 80s sounds and modern indie pop. Their musical inspirations range from the 60s to the 80s to current artists* like Angel Olsen, Alvvays and Beach House. Philine Meyer's dreamy vocals float above the warm guitar sounds of Manuel Romero Soria.

Since their formation, the band around singer Philine Meyer has achieved numerous milestones. These include sold-out headline shows in their hometown of Hamburg as well as appearances at festivals such as the Reeperbahn Festival and the Appletree Garden Festival in 2022. In addition, Roller Derby gained international attention through their participation in renowned showcase festivals, including SXSW in Austin, Texas and the Great Escape in Brighton. In 2023, the band continues its winning ways: In addition to an appearance at the MS Dockville Festival, concerts in European music capitals such as London and Paris have already been scheduled. Their recently released single "Always On My Mind" appeared in February 2023 and represents the third single release on the London label Practise Music.

"Always on My Mind" is a bitter-sweet, upbeat as well as nostalgic track that moves between dream pop and synth wave. A faster indie pop song about the value of friendship and social bonds. The track emphasizes the universal importance of these human relationships even over great distances and across borders, be they real, or just imagined. The video for the song illustrates the journey that Roller Derby 2022 has embarked on: Live impressions from SXSW in Austin, Texas to the first tours.

Roller Derby is currently working on their debut album with music producer Moses Schneider. The setlist for the upcoming concerts will include well-known singles as well as new, previously unreleased songs from the upcoming album.
