Building on the research project CAPTURES, Rosalie Wanka and Paola Gallarato investigate the creative and documentary potential of photography for the ephemeral art form of dance. They place the dancing body in different architectural and urban contexts in order to visualize the genius loci through it.
The resulting material is brought together in this lecture performance and invites a reflection on the culture of memory, which they approach by means of the danced locations as silent witnesses and products of past events. A special focus is placed on architecture from the Nazi era in Germany, Austria and Italy.
An accompanying multimedia installation will be shown, which can be viewed one hour before and after the event.
