Poetry slam, the modern poetry competition, is the most popular form of cabaret in Germany. In Stuttgart, poetry slam is better assimilated than Kehrwoche and more popular than photos from Schlossplatz. Writers of all kinds meet on stage and perform their self-penned pieces. The carefully selected line-up presents a brilliant smorgasbord of poetry slam styles: poetry, rap, cabaret, storytelling, beatbox, comedy and spoken word.
Since 2000, everything that is possible with words has taken place on the Rosenau stage on the first Sunday of every month at the slam. The audience decides who wins. The German-speaking stars of the scene, the literary debutants and after-work poets, have seven minutes to convince the audience.
