Ruth Geiersberger - VOM VERSCHWINDEN

In the organizer's words:

ABOUT DISAPPEARING

Reflections with text, space and sound
by and with Ruth Geiersberger

Texts by Markus Orth, Hermann Hesse, Ingeborg Bachmann and others, as well as her own text creations

Ruth Geiersberger, performer, actress, speaker, observer and winner of the 2023 Munich Art Prize, focuses her attention on the little things in life and discovers absurd connections in them.

What is it like to disappear? Do you dissolve? Do you just become invisible and are you still there, just in a different state? Are we humans on the verge of destroying ourselves through the disaster we cause? Is that what we really want? Will that leave the plants? Will they take over?
In this context, Ruth Geiersberger is continuing to develop her two major projects of recent years, "With Plants" (2019/20) and "Legacies" (2022). This is fundamentally about DISAPPEARANCE. It was triggered by an interest in Ludwig Leichhardt, a German botanist who disappeared on an excursion in Australia in the 19th century. All that remained were his notes. To research the phenomenon of disappearance, Ruth Geiersberger set off on a trip to Australia in spring 2024.
