Saigon Soul Revival

The Ho Chi Minh City-based band Saigon Soul Revival (SSR) is a dynamic and innovative ensemble that brings the golden sounds of pre-1975 Saigon music (Nhac Vang) with electrifying energy, precise grooves, and psychedelic textures. SSR blends timeless Vietnamese melodies with modern arrangements, transforming classic songs into gripping live experiences that captivate audiences both locally and internationally. Their sound is characterized by hypnotic rhythms, exotic vocals, and a seamless fusion of tradition and the present. All members of the band are of Vietnamese descent or have a strong connection to the country’s culture and heritage through their family ties and the time they’ve spent there. Their music focuses on compositions that blend Vietnamese lyrics and sounds with influences from Western rock, soul, bolero, tango, and other popular genres of that era—most of which were banned after the war. This project aims to revive Vietnam’s beautiful musical heritage, which serves as an important cultural bridge between East and West.
