In his installation Mit alles, Salmo Albatal poses the question "What remains?" - closely linked to questions about the meaning of life, this has always remained unanswered.
Inspired by the architectural history of the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Salmo Albatal examines memories and creates bridges and new connections between them. In a situation reminiscent of a restaurant, the installation Mit alles interweaves the biography of the original building, which was severely damaged in the Second World War, with the history of the new building erected in 1967, as it stands today on Grabbeplatz. The exterior and interior of the Kunsthalle are combined; different cultures and social milieus come together. The parking garage as a non-place, a space without identity, becomes a carrier of memories.
Salmo Albatal studied architecture under Prof. Inge Vinck and Prof. Donatella Fioretti at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and graduated in 2023.
