I used to think: You have your future in your own hands.
Today I know: The future is a privilege.
The future is unequally distributed.
It is negotiated for you - in offices and without your presence. The future is a process.
It is checked, limited, revoked.
The future is a question of passports and constantly changing paragraphs. A vote in political debates.
The future can be a form. Or a stamp.
For a long time, my future was 'subject to reservation'.
And perhaps that is still the case today.

Salz im Gepäck tells of memories and turning points and interweaves biographical stories with music and dance. The ensemble of The Beautiful Minds shares personal experiences of flight, migration and new beginnings and tells of loss and resistance as well as friendship and solidarity.

Salz im Gepäck is a poetic examination of a political present in which asylum and residence laws are gradually being tightened. And: it is an invitation to listen and reflect on shared spaces while moving fluidly between imagination and reality.
